BREAKING : Salman Khan sentenced 5 years imprisonment in Blackbuck poaching case

Mega Khan of Bollywood, Salman Khan has been sentenced to Five years in Jail, for killing rare blackbuck antelopes in 1998. Today, court in Rajashthan found Salman Khan to be guilty of killing two blackbucks which is a protected specie in India. The Dabangg star will be taken to Jodhpur Central Jail and will stay in barrack number one, seemingly for another five years to come. This is the same jail where Asaram Bapu is housed. The killing of blackbuck is forbidden acording to India's Wildlife Protection Act without special permit. Though, the status of blackbucks has been changed from 'Endangered' to 'Least Concern' over the course of 20 years but are still protected according to Indian law.

Four other actors involved including Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam were acquitted in the blackbuck poaching case due to lack of evidence.

This case was filed in 1998 while the mega star was shooting box office hit HUM SAATH SAATH in the village of Kankani, near Jodhpur, in the state of Rajasthan. Salman Khan has been accused of poaching in four separate cases. However, he was acquitted of other charges including killing three gazelles.

According to details, Salman Khan's sisters Arpita khan Sharma and Alvira Agnihotri broke down inside the court and condoled the star while the verdict was announced against him. His lawyers came to court today with bail request but was denied by the Jodhpur trial court judge Dev Kumar Katri also labelling Salman Khan to be a 'Habitual Offender'. Hundreds of policemen were deployed outside the court for filmstar's protection. Salman Khan's lawyer, Anand Desai expressed reservations regarding the verdict stating that his client's life was in danger in the jail.

His jailmate Asaram Bapu is well known religious figure across India. He was sentenced to jail for raping minor girls in 2013.

Case was filed by Bishnoi Samaj as this community considers blackbucks to be reincarnation of the sect's founder Guru Jambeshwar (1451-1536). Members of Bishnoi Samaj were seen celebrating, raising slogans and distributing sweets outside the court for winning the case. On the other hand, Salman Khan's fans maintain that he was framed in the case.

Billions of rupees invested in his upcoming are feared to be wasted as he was busy in shooting multiple mega budget movies.

Known as the Bad Boy of Bollywood, Salman Khan is known for brushes with the law. Previously he had been acquitted in 2015, in the hit and run case which killed a homeless man. The incident happened in 2002.
