Former Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Chief Lt Gen (retd) has been summoned to GHQ by Pakistan Army to give an explanation regarding the views attributed to him in the book, "Spy Chronicles: ISI, RAW and the Illusion of Peace."
The book has been co-authored by Former Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) Chief AS Dulat, Indian Journalist Aditya Sinha and Asad Durrani, making it the first ever book written by former heads of rival intelligence agencies.
Mr Asad Durrani writes in the book that Pakistani and US authorities reached an agreement of some sort before the Abbotabad Operation resulting in the death of Osama Bin Laden. However, the Former President of the United States Barrack Obama has repeatedly denied that any information was handed over to Pakistani authorities prior to Abbotabad Operation.
The matter was thoruoghly investigated by Abbotabad Commision resulting in a never-made-public Abbotabad Commision Report authored by the head of the Abbotabad Commsion Mr. Javed Iqbal who currently heads National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
However, Former President of the United Stated Barrack Obama has denied that Pakistani authorities had any knowledge regarding the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden.
The book met severe critcism by different circles. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif demanded emergency meeting of National Security Council. Also, the book met severe criticism on social media.
The book has been defended by Asad Durrani whose military career spanned over 34 years during which he held commands of DG ISI and DG MI. Also, he is recipient of Hilal-i-Jurat and Hilal-i-Imtiaz.
